Introduction: Cranial/Maxillofacial Bone Reconstruction

Problems:

Cranial defects are generally caused by trauma, diseases (Osteomyelitis of bone) infection, injury, or malignancy.
Cranial implants or reconstruction is required for restoring the skull contour, protecting intracranial structures, and normalizing cerebral hemodynamics.
Cranial Implants Market was valued at USD 1.05 Billion in 2020 and is projected to reach USD 1.77 Billion by 2028, growing at a CAGR of 6.67% from 2021 to 2028. 2.
Increasing prevalence of brain tumors owing to genetic disorders and unhealthy lifestyles coupled with increasing injuries, wounds, and road accidents are expected to drive the demand, thereby influencing the segment growth.

Achievements

  • 1- SCI in Rapid Prototyping (Impact Factor 3.78)
  • 1- Scopus Publication.
  • Successfully delivered 2 cranium and 6 Maxillo implants to
    GMCH 32.
  • Successful clinical trials on 5 maxillofacial patients.

Motive:

Reconstruct skull/facial bone prosthetic using 3D modelling and printing.

Features:

Design skull/facial region from base scanned image.

Reproduce the missing portion using 3D modelling.

3D print the portion as a template for fabricating bone cement implant.

Cost effective bone cement implant.

Digitally produced dimensionally accurate solution.

Time saving for surgeon to reconstruct the missing region.

Indigenous digital solution facility.
